27 years ago the campaign to buy the island of Eigg to make it the first community owned island succeeded it its aim. £1 .6 million pounds were raised and the rest is history. Eigg has not looked back! To celebrate this momentous event, Talisker distillery which was founded iin 1825 on Skye by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill from Eigg, prepared and donated a special vatting for the Isle of Eigg Heritage trust to mark this historic purchase. One of these 232 numbered bottles, bottled at natural cask strength 60% ABV, has been donated by the Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust: this rare and eminently collectable malt is truly a special prize!
